Description

From the days when I was young, I learned about emotions through the use of colors. The use of color to help describe emotions makes it easier for people to identify the emotions that others are feeling. This process was not the same for all growing up and learning about color and emotions. In this project, my models will wear plain colored shirts, and perform various emotions. The digital photographs are created with a black background with then models wearing solid color shirts.
I wanted to emphasis to be the emotions the models are performing and nothing more. Red is intended to represent anger and hatred, yellow for happiness and cheery, blue for sadness and loneliness, green for annoyed and envy, and purple for being anxious and nervousness. Everyone perceive emotions differently. By applying these colors to my models while they demonstrate the emotions, I hope to reinforce the concept of the emotions they are showing. they are instructed to do, is to be able to help the viewer understand what they are feeling and how the model show what the emotion they showing.
As someone who has a mood disorder, it’s very hard to control how I feel, how to help myself understand why I feel the way I do, put into words what’s on my mind and determine what actions I take because of my mood. Emotions to me are important because I have always had trouble relating to others and being aware of what I am feeling. I have spent years trying to put into perspective exactly what I am feeling and determine how I should react to these different emotions whether positive or negative. Working on this project required me to articulate what believe happiness or anger looks like to help the models perform the appearance of the emotion. It was a journey for the models and me to explore emotions together.
