Description

People Along the Way, 2017-2018
There are a range of people I have connected with, crossing paths, and giving
purpose to my daily experiences. Where I am today has ultimately been decided by me, but there are a great number of people who have entered my life that have impacted or influenced who I am and how I got here. These photographs highlight those experiences, from family members to friends to people along the way who have affected me in profound and positive ways.

In these photographs the subjects reflect something about themselves or the
relationship between us. It was important for me to have them engage with the camera in order to evoke emotions through their glance and body language. The background, location, and objects in the pictures tell a story about where we met, the lessons I’ve learned from them, or an insight into their interests and personality.

Whether they know it or not, they have all added value to my life. They’ve been
teachers of skills, companions in class, someone to trust and talk to, or a person who shares similar interests and has helped me develop as an individual. Because of these connections, all of these people have increased my overall quality of life and reminded me that there is plenty of good in the world, at times when I have had doubts. People Along the Way is an exploration of the way we find purpose through relationships and how new pathways are created by doing so.

The photographs are pigment inkjet prints made from digital SLR images.
